Why and how to cancel most of the cone surround distortion, thanks to the Inert Ring, elegantly incorporated into the 7th side:

What’s in it for you?

Now, you will be able to enjoy both the pianissimo and the fortissimo musical passages and anything in between like never before resulting in a sound performance that will put a smile on your face and you may even get tears in your eyes, tears of joy.

Any mid-woofer unit faces the same problem:

The cone surround ring creates its own difficulties.

How are these difficulties created?

These difficulties are (mostly) created by the shape of the cone surround ring itself. As you can imagine once the cone moves outwards the air pressure inside the cabinet is lowered. This under-pressure will create a force which will be counter-effective to the cone’s outward movement resulting in Cone Surround Distortion. A similar effect or over-pressure will occur when the cone moves inwards. The result, in both cases: Distorted music.

How to solve these difficulties?

To solve these difficulties an inert ring must be put in front of the cone surround ring itself in order to cancel out most of the cone surround distortion. This inert ring is elegantly incorporated into the 7th side. FYI, all Noble & Noble models feature this inert ring.

Why put in an inert ring?

To cancel out most of the cone surround distortion.

What will be the result?

The result will be that most of the distortion, coming from the cone surround ring movements, is now cancelled and thus it cannot mix with the sound coming from the mid-woofer unit itself which is also known as music.

What will be your benefit?

Your benefit will be that you will be able to enjoy both the pianissimo and the fortissimo musical passages and anything in between like never before resulting in a sound performance that will put a smile on your face and you may even get tears in your eyes, tears of joy.
